Is Shotfax HIPAA compliant?

No. Shotfax is not a HIPAA-compliant service and does not sign Business Associate Agreements. HIPAA covered entities and business associates should not use Shotfax to transmit Protected Health Information. A patient sending their own health records on their own behalf is not restricted by HIPAA in this way.

Do I need an account to send a fax?

No. That is the whole point. Upload the file, enter the number, pay $2.99, done. No signup, no password, no email verification. Optionally enter your email if you want the delivery receipt PDF.

Why is my doctor still on fax in 2026?

Blame HIPAA, blame inertia, blame the cost of migrating legacy systems. You still have to fax them. That part is not going to change this decade.

What if it fails to send?

Automatic full refund within 7 business days, no ticket needed. The receiving fax machine has to confirm back to Telnyx, which it usually does in under a minute.

Can I send to another country?

Yes, across North America and Europe (55+ countries). Use the +country format, for example +44 for the UK. International sends cost the same flat $2.99 base. Other regions are not currently supported.

Can I send a photo of a form from my phone?

Yes. Upload a JPG or PNG and we convert it to a clean black-and-white PDF automatically. Take the photo in good light with the whole document in frame. Works great for printed forms, invoices, and handwritten notes.
